TWOK: reposting because I’m lazy

That’s not entirely true. I’m also reposting because the first time around I didn’t have this blog to dump it on.

So here’s a short list of some of the things that bug me about The Wrath of Khan*.

– I always love that Khan tells Chekov that he never forgets a face since Chekov didn’t even show up until the second season. Part of me can’t help but taking some sick pleasure in noting the error and part of me likes to think that Chekov was always there, just not on the bridge (the rest of me is just incredibly sad for those two parts).
– Can someone please tell me why in the hell Scotty would carry his dying nephew to the goddamned bridge rather than sick bay, please? That bugs the shit out of me every time. McCoy isn’t even hanging out on the bridge at that point and since they were under attack it’s safe to assume that he was trying to help the wounded.
– I love Khan, a lot. Really I do. Ricardo Montalban is wicked hot and Khan is an awesome character. But… I’m still not exactly clear on how Khan figures that all this was Kirk’s fault (and believe me, I’m the first one to call Kirk on his screw-ups of which there are many). He talks about being exiled to Ceti Alpha V, but really he was given an opportunity to colonize the planet. Kirk didn’t blow up Ceti Alpha VI, dude and it’s more of a Star Fleet screw-up that no one came to check up on you guys (or notice that Ceti Alpha VI had BLOWN UP).
– Kirstie Alley is the WORST VULCAN EVER. Honestly, if it weren’t for Khan’s incredible awesomeness she would have ruined the whole movie.
– Tho I’m never surprised to make note of it, it should be mentioned that Kirk pops his collar like the douche we all figured he was.
– What is up with the engineering uniforms? Those are THE ugliest, most ridiculous uniform ever.
*which is my favourite Trek movie, by the way.

saturday distraction

I’ve been trying to decide exactly what I should be putting up here. Should it just be random pics, videos, links and the like? Should I be writing stuff? And then it occurred to me… this is my site and I’ll do whatever I like.

So chances are good that it’ll be a mix of both. Sometimes more of one than the other.I make no promises.

Now on to your Saturday Distraction.

One of the many things that made me laugh waaaaaay too hard this morning.

That fight music

Amok Time is absolutely one of my very favourite episodes for a few reasons. It’s a Spock heavy episode (a spockisode?), you finally get to see Vulcan (yay!), there are more Vulcans on Vulcan (double yay!), you get to a look at some Vulcan tradition (triple yay!), Spock and Kirk fight (guess who gets his ass handed to him), Spock gets all emotional (I really love when that happens, it’s so adorable) and even smiles (squee!) and finally there’s that fight music.

I actually have the Kirk/Spock Amok Time action figures and ever time I look at them all I can hear is that music.

PS – I just found out that “Amok” is actually a Cambodian dish that sounds pretty tasty. I may have to make some and get back to you on that.

q

There are plenty of guest stars that have come and gone from the trek-verse and I love a lot of them. Really.

There are guest stars that come back again and again and I love some of them too.

I love Lwaxana.

But this isn’t a post about her.

No.

It’s about Q. Who I adore.

I know there are more than a few people who don’t like Q and a few more who hate him, but I think he’s great.

I love the chaos he brings to the party and no matter how big a douche he’s being, he does it with a childish glee. It’s wonderful watching someone who so clearly enjoys what they’re doing.

John de Lancie brings life to a character who could have been completely over the top and cartoonish. He makes you believe that power in the most delicious sort of way. He’s like an imp with limitless power and imagination.

What’s not to love?

A little too “Squire of Gothos”, don’t you think?

How could anyone hate that face?

Bones

I love Bones. He and Spock are tied for my favourite TOS character. I love him from the top of his grumpy head to the tips of his technology hating toes. I love him even when he’s contradicting himself and arguing with Spock. And just to top it all off, he has the bluest eyes ever.

What’s not to love?

Bluest. Eyes. Ever.

Yeah, yeah. We’ve all seen your incredibly creepy slash fic, you freaking weirdo.

I really did love the new movie a lot.

This is incredibly nerdy even by my standards

But I can still say that I’ve seen the whole thing. Twice.

*sigh*
